After airlines dropped out owing to the pandemic, the owner of Southend Airport anticipates further recovery in summer 2023. Wizz Air and Ryanair have both departed from Essex Airport, however EasyJet flights to Malaga, Palma, and Faro will restart this summer. Esken, the airport’s parent company, announced £48.6 million in outstanding obligations payable until 2024 linked with the collapse of regional airline Stobart Air, ongoing aircraft leases, and related expenditures in its financial statements for the year ending February 28.
