The historic monument brimming with history and some stunning architecture has reopened its doors to the public after a protracted pandemic-induced break, with a renovated gallery and a new temporary exhibition.<\/p>\n

The museum, which opened in the late 1980s, presents the centuries-old narrative of the Bank of England, from its beginnings as a national bank to pay the war with France in 1694 to the present. Visitors will be able to tour the reopened Modern Economy gallery, which will examine at the influence of the worldwide pandemic on the UK economy, as well as a display concentrating on financial literacy.
\n‘Slavery & The Bank,’ a new temporary exhibition, is based on fresh research conducted by professional employees from the Bank’s Museum and Archive. It explores the historical ties between the Bank of England, the commercial interests of the City of London, and the transatlantic slave traffic through a number of artefacts from the Museum’s collection.
