After airlines dropped out owing to the pandemic, the owner of Southend Airport anticipates further recovery in summer 2023.<\/h1>\n

Wizz Air and Ryanair have both departed from Essex Airport, however EasyJet flights to Malaga, Palma, and Faro will restart this summer.
\nEsken, the airport’s parent company, announced \u00a348.6 million in outstanding obligations payable until 2024 linked with the collapse of regional airline Stobart Air, ongoing aircraft leases, and related expenditures in its financial statements for the year ending February 28.
\nIn a trading report issued today (Tuesday), the aviation and renewable power infrastructure group stated:\u201cIt is encouraging that the majority of European travel restrictions have been lifted and airlines have been seeing an improvement in booking volumes for summer 2022, although the impact of higher fuel prices on both customer demand and airline flying capacity is currently unclear.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhile flying was constrained during the traditionally quieter winter period, the airport continued to benefit from global logistics income.<\/p>\n

\u201cEsken has maintained strict financial discipline, underpinned by \u00a314.4 million of ring-fenced cash, which will be used to support the airport as it works toward a positive cash contribution.\u201d<\/p>\n

The airport handled 2.15 million visitors in pre-pandemic 2019, but that figure dropped by 93 percent the next year to only 147,000.<\/p>\n
