Commemorative coins were issued in Britain in honor of the 150th anniversary of the book “Alice Through the Looking Glass”<\/h1>\n

In 1871, the book Through the Looking-Glass was published, a sequel to Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll. To commemorate 150 years since publication, the Royal Mint has decided to issue two collectible \u00a3 5 coins. The first was minted in July 2021; its reverse depicts Alice’s meeting with the Cheshire Cat. On the second, the main character meets the twins Tweedledum and Tweedledee, writes the BBC.<\/p>\n

The coin was designed by artist Ffion Gwillim. She was inspired by the illustrations of the first issue of Alice Through the Looking Glass by artist John Tenniel. \u201cI am confident that the Alice Adventures series will be popular with collectors,\u201d said Claire McLennan, Director of Commemorative Coins at the Royal Mint. A commemorative coin with Alice can be seen at the Victoria and Albert Museum on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the book’s release, or purchased on the mint’s website.
