Watch collectors in need of some inspiration should head to London this October.<\/h1>\n

One of the world\u2019s greatest private watch collections is the subject of a new international exhibition at London\u2019s Design Museum. Luxury watches are destined never to go out of fashion. Even though we now have clocks on our phones, nothing beats the exceptional elegance of a beautifully crafted timepiece. Suddenly, checking the time becomes a rather exciting endeavour. A proper mechanical watch isn\u2019t simply a way of tracking time. A premium time-keeper is an emotional investment. A treasured possession. And it will most likely go on to become a prized family heirloom. <\/p>\n

The OAK Collection consists of 160 wrist and pocket watches including \u201cunrepeatable special orders, ultra-rare limited editions and the most valuable examples of their type,\u201d the product of four decades worth of collecting by a single, anonymous collector. The collection includes the largest number of Patek Philippe pieces once owned by American banker and super collector, Henry Graves Jnr, the man who commissioned the $24m USD Supercomplication. Both modern and vintage watches will feature in the exhibition that debuts at Kensington\u2019s Design Museum from 8-14 October before going on an international tour.<\/p>\n
