The Sky Pool is a 10-feet deep transparent swimming pool that stretches between the 10th floors of two residential skyscrapers in southwest London’s Nine Elms, and it’s only available to the lucky residents of the apartment complex.<\/h1>\n

It’s also very high, at 115 feet, and the water alone is said to weigh about 375 tons. It will officially open on May 19, but models have already been photographed in the water for advertising purposes. Architects Arup Associates, engineers Eckersley O’Callaghan, and aquarium designers Reynolds collaborated on the structure. Arup is no stranger to difficult architectural challenges. One of its most high-profile clients is the Sydney Opera House.
\nIt’s the world’s largest freestanding acrylic pool structure, and it’s the centerpiece of EcoWorld Ballymore’s new Embassy Gardens creation, which includes bars, restaurants, and shops. It is located next to the US Embassy and near to the south bank of the Thames, bathers will be able to take in views of the London skyline, including the London Eye and Westminster, from the pool.

Before being transported to the UK by road and sea, the pool was placed through intensive strength testing at the Reynolds factory. A 750-tonne mobile crane, supported by a 50-tonne crane, then raised it into position. Radio DJ Roman Kemp will host the opening ceremony, which will include a presentation by the synchronized swimming team Aquabatix.<\/p>\n<\/h2>\n

“With sides 200 millimeters thick and 3.2 meters deep, and with a bottom 300 millimeters thick, the 50-tonne acrylic pool will span the 14 meters between the buildings, with steps and filtrations systems sitting either end, and five modes of lighting to add to the feeling of magic.” says Ballymore
\nEmbassy Gardens has 2,000 houses, with prices starting at \u00a31,015,000 ($1.4 million) for a two-bed. Nine Elms is a previously industrial area that is now wealthiest, with 40 new buildings in the works, as well as two new tube stations.
