Wembley Stadium London

Euro 2020 matches in Wembley London will be able to gather about 22,500 spectators, only 25%.

Wembley is included in the number of legendary stadiums. At the beginning of the 21st century, old Wembley was demolished and a new Wembley was built in its place. There were financial and legal problems with the demolition of the old Wembley, which caused the deadlines to be pushed back all the time. The original plan called for the demolition of the arena by the end of calendar year 2000, but the process dragged on until early 2003.
The construction of the new Wembley did not go smoothly either. The growth of financial costs, constant adjustments in the timing of work and even some incidents on construction, all this did not please football fans who wanted to quickly appear in the stands of the country’s main arena. The work was completed by the spring of 2007 and the stadium was taken over by the Football Association.
A distinctive feature of the new Wembley is the arch. It is 133 meters high and is the longest single-span roof structure in the world. In addition to beauty, the Wembley arch also performs a load-bearing function.
Wembley officially opened on 19 May ahead of the FA Cup final between Chelsea and Manchester United. But matches at the main British stadium began to be played back in March.

Wembley Stadium’s problems persisted long after it opened. Coaches and footballers often criticized the stadium’s grass in the early years. The lawn was extremely difficult to maintain and had to be re-milled numerous times.
Wembley is England’s home ground. In addition, the arena plays host to many of the key domestic soccer matches. These include the FA Cup semi-finals and finals, the League Cup final, the Super Bowl match, the minor league playoff finals, and so on.
Wembley stands have seen more than football. It hosted matches of other sports, in particular rugby. Many concerts were also held at the main stadium in Great Britain. At Wembley, the audience applauded Madonna, Eminem and many other stars.
The new Wembley has played host to two Champions League finals. In 2011, Barcelona triumphed in London. Wembley hosted the FA final again to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the FA.
Wembley is the second largest stadium in Europe after Camp Nou. In times without a pandemic, 90,000 people can watch football matches from the stands of the UK’s main arena. In modern realities, the Wembley stands are 25% open, that is, Euro 2020 matches in London will be able to gather about 22,500 spectators. However, the situation may change. So far, London has announced only the capacity for the group stage and 1/8 finals, after which the issue will be reconsidered.
