h1 style=”font-size:2em; text-transform: capitalize; line-height: 1em; text-size: 31px;”>This year marks the centennial of Ten Trinity Square, which is located within the Four Seasons Hotel London.
The historic site has long been recognized as one of the best architectural landmarks in the United Kingdom. This Grade II listed structure, which currently houses the Four Seasons Hotel London at Ten Trinity Square, has introduced guided walking tours for both in-house and external visitors. The group tours will only be offered this year.
The hillside where Ten Trinity Square currently sits was originally inhabited almost 2,000 years ago by the Romans, who built the village of Londinium—the ancient city core around which the capital has expanded. Complimentary group tours will be guided by the hotel’s management team, who will provide insider information on The City of London’s history, architecture, architectural aspects, interesting facts, and tales.
The building’s proximity to the Tower of London is one of the tour’s attractions. Following his invasion of England in 1066, William the Conqueror constructed the Tower of London nearby. Today, a plaque in the hotel lobby marks the distance of an arrow’s flight—the point at which people had to come to a halt or risk being shot by archers on the tower.
The Great Fire of London, which began just west of the Ten Trinity Square site in 1666, devastated most of the city, and by the 19th century, London had become an international commercial centre, with ships dumping their goods. The Port of London Authority’s offices were opened in 1922 at Ten Trinity Square. The building was designed by Sir Edwin Cooper, who won the project through a design contest, and was built at a then-astronomical cost of €1 million.
Beginning March 27, 2022, the free tours will be accessible on the last Sunday of each month. Each trip will take around an hour and may accommodate up to eight people.
