The Dorchester will undergo its most extensive renovation since 1989
The Dorchester will begin a comprehensive renovation as part of an ongoing investment program. According to the London hotel, the renovation will be the largest since 1989 and will begin with the entrance to the hotel, The Promenade and The Bar at The Dorchester, as well as two guest floors, with work expected to be completed by September 2022.
The architects and designer on the project to remodel The Dorchester are ReardonSmith Architects. The hotel entrance, The Promenade, and the new guestrooms and suites have been tastefully updated by Pierre-Yves Rochon, while the bar has been re-created by Martin Brudnizki Design Studio.
The Dorchester will remain open for guests during this time, with afternoon tea continuing to be provided in the Orchid Room and a new rooftop restaurant concept set to debut in spring 2022. Because The Grill, Alain Ducasse, and China Tang have all recently undergone renovations, they will remain open as usual, as will The Dorchester Spa. Furthermore, The Ballroom, which has its own entry on Park Lane, the Penthouse and Pavilion rooms, and the Chef’s Table will remain available for corporate and social events.
In other Dorchester Collection news, in May, 45 Park Lane in Mayfair opened a new spa. The 10,000-square-foot spa will include a 66-foot pool, a personal training room, and a large gym. Valmont and Aromatherapy Associates will provide spa treatments. In addition, Dorchester Collection’s country house hotel and spa Coworth Park debuted a new three-bedroom standalone gatehouse cottage in February.
