Qatar Airways Returns To London Heathrow Airport Despite Red List Status.
Qatar Airways made a return to London-bound passenger services on June 11, months after joining the red list. The airline is resuming flights to London Heathrow and Edinburgh Airports but can only carry British and Irish citizens and those with residency rights.
The carrier’s first outgoing passenger flight to London since March, QR7, took off from Doha at 01:45 a.m. local time and is expected to arrive at Heathrow about 06:30 a.m.
Qatar Airways will operate two daily departures from its hub to London, according to booking statistics. The two flights, QR3 and QR7, will depart at 01:45 a.m. and 08:00 a.m., arriving at 07:00 a.m. and 13:15 p.m., respectively. Due to the UK’s red list regulations, only a restricted number of passengers will be permitted to fly this route.
Only British citizens, Irish citizens, and people having resident rights in the UK are allowed to enter the UK under the red list. In addition, all of the aforementioned must stay in a hotel for ten days at a cost of £1,750 each traveler. Unless they have spent the last 10 days in a nation on the red list, you won’t be able to fly to the UK.
Qatar began flying inbound travelers to the UK again about three months later. Qatar is also returning to Edinburgh Airport, in addition to London. On Wednesdays and Fridays, the carrier will operate two weekly flights, leaving Doha at 07:55 a.m. and arriving at 13:25 p.m. local time.
Those traveling in Scotland face similar limitations, including pre-flight testing and hotel quarantine. The flights will be a big help to those who live in Qatar or one of the countries served by the airline.
While Qatar remains on the UK’s red list, and may remain so for some time, the restart of flights is a step in the right direction. Passengers may easily book flights with the airline and across its network as summer approaches. Taking a direct flight home from an amber destination, on the other hand, may help you avoid the costly hotel quarantine fee.
Emirates resumed passenger flights to the UK. Since being placed on the red list in January, the carrier has only flown people out.
