On International Women’s Day, all travelers departing from London St. Pancras Station will be able to enjoy opera arias
On March 8, a series of mini-operas created by women composers and librettists will be staged at the station. For example, especially for this day, Laura Reed wrote the work Detritus, a story about the reunion of passengers with their once lost things, which is written on behalf of the station cleaner.
Other examples include arias The Meeting Place and The Parting Place by Sarah Lianna Lewis and Sofia Chapadzhieva, and I Just Wanna Be (in Center Parcs) by Joanna Taylor and Kerry Priest, which tells the story of daily train travel. It is noteworthy that the plot of each of these arias is based on real events: the texts are based on the stories of ordinary people.
The performances at the station are part of the Europalia arts festival, which brings together railway stations and central stations in European cities, including Antwerp, Brussels and Rotterdam.
