Salt Bae’s restaurant ‘Nusr-Et Steakhouse’ is opened in London at Knightsbridge.
Salt Bae’s West London branch has been a long-anticipated wait, as rumours of a London chain speculated back in 2017. The opening has also been delayed by lockdown restrictions, as indoor dining in the UK has been off limits since December.
Although it’s not called a ‘luxury steakhouse’ for nothing, as Salt Bae’s legendary £700 24-carat gold steak will allegedly make an appearance. He is also known to occasionally hand feed people steak, making his dining experience a rather unique and very personal one indeed.
Salt Bae is also the owner of Nusr-Et, a chain of luxury steakhouses not just in Turkey but all over the world, from Abu Dhabi to Greece. It’s very interesting to know how this ‘Salt Bae’ became famous.
Back in 2017, there was a video that went viral on Instagram that featured an as-then-unknown Turkish restaurateur Nusret Gökçe whose signature style of cutting meat and sprinkling salt on top turned him into an Internet meme.
Since then, he’s opened restaurants all over the globe. One of the most recent was in New York. Salt Bae is worth an impressive $50 million, which is equivalent to around £35 million. His infamous way of preparing and cooking steak was inspired by his time working in Argentine and American restaurants for free, where he learnt how to master the art.
His signature dishes are ‘Roasted Asado Short Rib’, ‘Nusr-Et Meat Spaghetti’, ‘Lokum’, and the ‘Nusr-Et Special’. And Nusret Gökçe himself is “personally selecting every cut”.
