London Tourism Awards 2022 - London Airport Transfers
Posted on April 7, 2022 by John Swardson

Unsung heroes was honored at the London Tourism Awards 2022

On March 10, representatives of the tourism industry gathered in the Old Library at Guildhall to commemorate London travel firms and individuals who have gone above and beyond the industry’s expectations.
For the first time in two years, the London Tourist Awards 2022, sponsored by London & Partners, brought together London’s tourism sector under one roof. It had ten categories, such as ‘Unsung Hero’ and ‘Resilience and Innovation.’
Following the last awards night, which took place only days until the first global lockdown, this year’s edition honored people like Hilton London Metropole’s Neeshal Jeewon , who won the ‘Unsung Hero’ award.
As the lockdown began, Jeewon began working with the organization OpenKitchen, which distributes extra food supplies from hotels to locals who were unable to purchase meals. Every week, he toiled to pack and mark boxes for those in need, and in collaboration with the Felix Project, he has distributed over 50,000 meals to far. He also collaborates with the Down’s Syndrome Association to ‘buddy up’ with handicapped persons who have been placed into long-term employment at the Hilton London Metropole.

The Barbican Centre received the ‘Ethical, Responsible, and Sustainable Tourism’ award for its dedication to sustainability, with the goal of reaching net zero by 2027.
The Postal Museum was complimented for its accessibility features, while Up at The O2 was hailed for restoring its experience only days after Storm Eunice damaged the O2’s roof last month.
Barge East, a floating restaurant on a canal in Hackney Wick, earned the ‘Taste of England’ Award for its cuisine as well as the ‘Resilience & Innovation’ Award for its work with food banks and providing free meals for children.
“Previous night’s London Tourist Awards 2022 recognised the hard period we have experienced as a tourism sector over the last several years, but most importantly, we looked positively to the future,” said Tracy Halliwell, chief of tourism, conventions, and big events at London & Partners.
