IAAF World Athletics Championships 2017 London.
World Athletics Championships 2017 is an athletics competition that takes place in 2017 in London, the capital of Great Britain, under the auspices of the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF). This is the first World Cup in the UK and the eleventh in Europe. London also hosted the Summer Olympic Games three times. This tournament was the 16th World Championships.
Initially, three cities expressed a desire to host the World Cup in their own country – Istanbul, Rome and Doha. On March 17, 2011, the IAAF announced that five cities had confirmed their intentions for the organization of the championship – London, Doha, Berlin, Budapest and Barcelona. Until September 4, all cities except London and Doha were removed. The IAAF chose the venue for the championship at a meeting of the IAAF Council in Monaco on November 11, 2011. Doha was then given the right to host the 2019 World Cup.
Talismans for the championship and paralympic games were presented in April 2017, and were selected at the contest of children’s drawings organized by the BBC program “Blue Peter”. Talismans are “everyday” species that are endangered in the UK; The mascot of the championship is an anthropomorphic hedgehog named Hero, the mascot of the paralympic games is a bee Down.
